After completion, students will receive a 2-year Instructor Certification from the American Red Cross and will have the ability to teach Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED courses (and many variations of that course) to others! The Instructor Development Course process consists of three parts:

1. Candidates must have a valid student level Adult CPR/AED certification (from Red Cross or an equivalent agency) when they arrive to the instructor development class. If you aren’t currently certified, you can find a basic class here before the Instructor Course! Here is a listing of acceptable certifications from Red Cross and other agencies.

2. An online, self-paced pre-work session that lasts approximately 2 hours must also be completed ahead of the in-person course. This is an overview about teaching Red Cross courses and sets the foundation for your in-person class. Once enrolled in the Instructor Course, you will receive an access link to this online pre-work

3. An in-person Instructor Development course that lasts approximately 6.5 hours is the final component. This portion has a skills polish, demonstrations by the trainer, training material review, and then practice teach back sessions for the instructor candidates. This portion will help ensure that candidates are ready to go out and teach on their own!

When completing an Instructor Development course with us, we will continue to provide mentoring and support with any questions that you might have as you or your organization begins training others!
